AGRIC: Sensitization on the use of Agro Chemicals

25th February, 2022

The programme was organized and implemented to create awareness and also sensitize both farmers and agro chemicals sellers on the application of agro chemicals on farm lands as well as farm produce. This is to help control climate change issues and promote green economy in the district.

During the occasion, the members were sensitized on the various varieties of agro chemicals and the application of each of the chemicals. The facilitator educated the members on the particular agro chemical to apply on specific farm produce and its mode of application. The quantity of water to mix with the chemicals in order not to ruin its efficacy was taught and justified.

The facilitator also informed the members of certain agro chemicals which is inimical to the farmland as well as the farm products and which is likely to cause climate change and also affects the fertility of the soil. He cautioned members not to rely on prices of agro chemicals and that buy cheap but harmful chemicals that will collapse their products but rather should go in for good and highly effective agro chemicals that will help increase their yields and by that promoting agriculture development. During the programme, 200 bags of NPK and 100 bags of Urea fertilizers were provided to the farmers to promote and increase production. A total of 20 participants attended the programme with 14 being males and 6 being females.
