AGRIC: Training Programme

The programme was organized and implemented to provide support to the Agriculture extension officers to enable them provide enough education to farmers on climate change and green economy in the district. The facilitator informed the members that the movement of the extension officers to the various communities and farms is a very tedious task and calls for support to enable them undertake this task. He said the extension officers have been provided the necessary resources to help them execute their task. Resources like Motor Bikes, protective clothes, wellington boots and others have been provided.

The facilitator in his submissions said, since the farmers are the sole producers of the food for the country, they need to be sensitized on the relatively causes and effects of climate change and also provide them with in-depth knowledge in green economy. This in one way or the other helps to promotes sustainable development. The various stakeholders contributed in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project. A total of 20 participants attended the programme from the various communities with 12 being males and 8 being females.
