WORKS: Sanitation Improvement Programme

28th August, 2024

The programme was organized and implemented to create awareness on the decisions of the district Assembly to maintain dilapidated toilet facilities in some of the communities in the district. This is to make available adequate toilet facilities in the communities.

During the occasion, the members were informed that since the communities are growing in terms of population, it is necessary to make available adequate toilet facilities to serve the people in the communities. The facilitator stated that, the Assembly has thought of the need to construct new toilet facilities in all the communities in the district to forestall the act of open defection in the district. He added that the district capital has toilet facilities deficit and that the need to close the gap and make it at par with other district capitals. He added that the provision of these facilities means a stop to open defecation and anyone caught in the act will be dealt with according to the law.

A sanitation management team was formed to ensure that the environment is well maintained. The occasion was attended by the various stakeholders who contributed massively in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the projects.
