The programme was organized and implemented to give considerable attention to the activities of the works department which has been ignored but mainly contributes to the progress and development of the district.
The facilitator during the program informed the members that, the works department plays a key role in the activities of the Assembly and therefore efforts are being made to implement its activities in the areas of operation and maintenance. He said, the physical activities which includes the construction of roads, reshaping of roads, construction and maintenance of educational and other facilities all lies on the shoulders of the works department. He added that, issuance of project certificates and contract certificates lies on the laps of the works department. The works department is responsible to ensure that all buildings should be constructed on safety standards.
He told the members that, if the activities of the works department are relegated then the communities will lack infrastructural development. This calls for the need to implement the activities of the works department to promote development across the district.
All stakeholders were involved in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of this programme. A total of 72 participants attended the programme from the various communities with 41 being males and 31 being females. Out of this were three physically challenged people.
