HEALTH: District Health Committee Meeting

The programme was organized to intensify the activities of the health sector in the district and also uses the health department as a means to provide basic education to the people on some health related issues.

During the occasion, the members were informed on the need to furnish all health centres in the district with the required tools and equipment to make it more functional and capable of serving multi purposes. He added that, water and electricity services is very essential to the health centres in the discharge of their duties, hence the Assembly and the government of Ghana has extended water and electricity services to all health centers across the length and breadth of the district. In addition to this, he said electricity availability will also scares thieves to attack both workers and patients at the health centres.

The facilitator said, the government of Ghana is doing its best to eradicate the spread of malaria across the length and breadth of the country and has tasked each and every district to sensitize the community members on how to keep their environment clean from mosquitoes. He said the government has supplied millions of mosquito nets to the health directorate to be distributed freely to all Ghanaians.

He further said that, the members should sleep under treated mosquito nets to prevent the spread of malaria and should not take and store it. He also advised them to engage their younger children in the immunization programs to reduce and prevent the polio disease in the country.

The occasion was attended by the stakeholders who contributed in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the activity.
