FINANCE: Sensitisation on Public Auditing in the District

The programme was organized to sensitize the participants on the importance of publishing and displaying documents such as budget, Audit reports statement of accounts, etc. to the general public in order to promote transparency.

During the occasion, vital documents and reports like the Final Composite Budget, Audit Reports, and Newsletters etc. were published on the Assembly’s website, notice board and other vantage points of the Assembly for public perusal. The facilitator informed the participants to always attend the notice boards and websites of the Assembly to assess the performance and activities of the Assembly. He also told the staffs of the district Assembly to publish the Assembly’s websites to the general public. Staffs of the district Assembly was cautioned and advised to make good use of public funds to avert stigmatization.

The activities undertaken include:

• Publication of reports through information centres
• Publication of Newsletters on the Assembly’s website
• Pasting of documents on notice boards

A total of 74 participants attended the programme from the various communities with 33 being males and 44 being females. All stakeholders were involved in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of this programme.
